Every day I manifest My grace in countless places and situations, but the media take no notice. I shower not only blessings but also outright miracles on your planet. As you grow closer to Me, I open your eyes to see more and more of My Presence all around You.
–Sarah Young in Jesus Calling
Recently, I listened to a podcast about miracles and healing. It reminded me that the pages of Scripture abound with miracle after miracle and healing after healing. Time and again, God touched the earth to intervene for His people: Sarah’s conception of Isaac in her old age, releasing the Israelites from slavery, parting the Red Sea, raising David, a lowly shepherd boy, to the throne…
Jesus reached out in healing miracles one after another during His earthly ministry: curing the woman with the hemorrhage, raising Lazarus from the dead, cleansing the 10 lepers, restoring sight to the man born blind…
Those miracles were God-sized dreams.
Do these things happen today?
Can we expect healing and miracles in our own lives?
Let’s take a look:
For nothing is impossible with God. —Luke 1:37
Nothing. Nothing is impossible. Not with God. Not a new job or a new business. Not writing a book or becoming a speaker. Not the restoration of your marriage or your family. Not healing from trauma or illness. Nothing.
Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. —Matthew 17:20
With faith, nothing will be impossible for you. Faith the size of a mustard seed is all that’s needed, not the size of a mountain. How can it be that such a miniscule amount of faith can do so much?
…then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. —Acts 4:10
Jesus. It is not our own power or might. It is the power of the name of Jesus that unleashes healing and miracles.
For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a might savior. –Zephaniah 3:17
He tells us straight out: He is mighty!
Friends, our God is not silent on this. We do not have to passively accept our lot in life, chalking it up to being our “cross” to bear. (<=== Click to tweet) In the podcast I mentioned earlier, the speaker exhorts us to ask! There will be times of unexplained suffering, but sometimes God delivers us from suffering through miraculous healing.
Perhaps we do not see our miracles because God is waiting for us to ask in faith, believing He will answer:
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. —Matthew 7:7-12
And then there’s this:
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. —Isaiah 55:8-9
We live in a go, go, go world, where worth is measured by productivity. Only things achievable by mere man are considered possible.
That is not how God works. God planted dream seeds in your heart to carry out a plan He crafted just for you. His plan is not thwarted by the human inability to conceive of His wonders! (<=== Click to tweet)
We call it a miracle. God calls it love.
The pouring out of Himself.
So ask, friends. Ask! For the job and the business, the book contract and the speaking gig, the restoration and the healing.
Believe that God is Who He says He is. That He will make good on His promises.
Then, wait with an open heart for what He has for you.
Know that He hears you every time, and it makes Him smile when you come to Him.
The miracle of Him drawing you closer to Himself will fulfill the deepest dream in your heart.
What miracles have you witnessed?
Do you know someone who inspires you to dream big?
