Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him” (Matthew 2:2).
Sometimes I lose sight of the main objective of the creative process.
The main point is not the fulfillment of a dream, but the connection to the Creator along the way. I am God’s creation and He has things for me to create. But when I start bowing to the creation, instead of the Creator, I trip.
They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.” Romans 1:25
I lose sight of His love when I start loving the work of my hands more than the One who formed these hands. (<===Click to Tweet)
I am no better than Herod—full of insecurity, fuming with jealousy and fixed on hate—when I insist on sitting on the throne and calling the shots (see Matthew 2:1-12 and 2:16).
I want to be like the wise men. They knew who they were yet also sought to know the One that was greater than they.
They didn’t lose sight of the end goal.
They journeyed long to reach Him. They traveled together and stayed the course even when they faced unforeseen obstacles. They followed the light and were led to Him. They laid down lavish gifts at His feet. They emptied their hands in order to lift them to the Long, Awaited One. They surrendered their treasure to His Kingship.
Let’s follow the example of the wise that have gone before us as we make our way to the All Wise One:
- Let’s continue to travel on this bumpy road of faith and not stop short of His Majesty,
- Let’s encourage each other to stay the course even when the way is difficult,
- Let’s bring what we have in hand and lay it willingly at His feet—knowing He’s worthy of our offering,
- Let’s come near to the King and kneel in reference.
There is blessing found in obedience,
even when we’d rather run ahead and forge our own way.
There is wisdom found in surrender,
even when we think we know it all, we yield to listen.
There is joy found in communion,
even when we aren’t sure how it will all turn out.
There is hope in the dark,
even when we can’t see the way through.
There is peace in submission,
even when we don’t know the end of our story.
You matter to the King.
He came for you.
He has placed dreams within you to be used as worship. (<===Click to Tweet)
Remember the gift is not greater than the Giver but it is a tool to bring Him glory.
Remember the wise men and follow their lead as we honor the King of Kings.
I bring an offering
Of worship to my King
No one on earth deserves
The praises that I singJesus, may You receive
The honor that You’re due
O Lord, I bring an offering to You.”Lyrics from Offering by Paul Baloche
