Remember when you were a child and had dreams of growing up and becoming a rock star or famous actress/actor? No? Me either.
Maybe you were more practical and just knew you were going to be a teacher, a doctor, or maybe be a mom and raise babies.
Whatever it was, we start out dreaming and then somewhere along the way we stop. We grow up and buy into the lie that dreaming is for kids. Adults should live in the real world, where they have to work and pay bills. And we completely forget what it is like to dream.
But, if you could stop for a moment and allow yourself to ‘go there,’ what would your dream be?
I believe God plants dreams in us from the moment we are born and it’s up to us to water and nurture those seeds so that they can grow.
God wants us to believe in Him and ourselves enough to know that with Him we can do anything.(<===Tweet That)
If you don’t know what your dream is, have you considered asking Him? Do it, ask Him what you were put on this earth for, right now. I’ll wait.
He already knows about your circumstances, your health, and your money situation.
God wants to use what you have and who you are to bless those around you.(<===Tweet That)
Have you ever wondered why you were made a certain way or always thought you didn’t quite fit in? God has a reason for that too.
I used to hate how quiet I was as a child; I just wasn’t a big talker. Being around people for long periods of time seemed to make me tired and I would long for the quiet of my bedroom, where I could escape into a book.
Unlike my friends, I needed the time to absorb what was being said and think it over before I could respond. Other’s seemed to know in a split second, and had boundless energy. I knew I was a different.
When I grew up and learned more about introverts and extroverts it all made sense. I’m a textbook introvert.
So while I made not have been as outgoing and fast talking as some of my friends, when I did respond it was usually with something that I had considered and thought on for a long period of time.
My love of reading translated into my love for writing. My penchant for being quiet means I’m a pretty good listener, which makes for a good friend to talk through problems with.
Once you embrace who God made you to be, you will see just how much He can use you for His plans. Quirks and all.
I’m not sure where you are in life; maybe you are chasing your dreams or living them right now. But I do know this. It is worth it.
It’s worth it because chasing after those desires that God has planted will bring us into a relationship with the Dream Giver that we didn’t know existed before.
We’ll go deeper and further, and it’ll force us to look at ourselves, our motives, and everything we know to be true.
And don’t be afraid if the dream changes or doesn’t turn out like you expected, remember, the God of dreams doesn’t play by our rules.
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.
Your job is to be the fearless warrior He created you to be, to press in and push onward. Once you decide to follow after your God- given dreams, there is no going back.
Doing nothing is more of a risk that doing the something God has commanded.
You can do this, dream big, aim high. Let’s make our one life count, ok?
