Faith Prayer

June 7, 2015 By Delonna Gibbs Leave a Comment

Walk by Faith

Heavenly Father,

Thank you Lord for walking with us when you call us to live by faith and not by sight. Thank you Lord for the wisdom and direction you impart to us along the journey. Thank you Lord for showing us that our God Sized Dreams are possible if we rely on you for guidance and strength.

Lord we ask that we will not be distracted by what we see. We will trust in your promises. We will trust you will honor the words you have spoken over us. Thank you Lord for moving on our behalf. We stand on 2 Corinthians 5:7 NIV, “For we will live by faith and not by sight”.  We celebrate each step we take towards the God Sized Dream you birthed in us.

We ask all of this in Jesus precious name – AMEN

The Melody of Community

May 18, 2015 By Kelli Stuart 5 Comments

dandelions2

“You have to see this,” he said, sliding into the bleacher seat next to mine. He handed me his phone and I stared at the picture on the screen. The music from our daughter’s gymnastics competition blared in the background as I tried to decipher what I was staring at.

“Who are those people?” I asked, handing the phone back to him. My husband’s eyes filled with tears.

“They’re from my parent’s Sunday School class. They’re standing outside mom and dad’s house right now in the freezing cold, praying.”

“How many people are there?” I asked, a lump forming in my throat.

“They think about 70 people.”

My father-in-law was six months into his battle with lung cancer, and it wasn’t going well. The side effects of chemo had ravaged his body, leaving him weak and frail, a shell of the larger than life man he’d once been.

That was when community stepped up. As the cancer progressed, my in-law’s class rose up and poured over and into their mentors.  They brought meals, they gathered on the snow-covered lawn and bathed Herb and Barbara in prayer. They filled the gap, because that’s what community does.

That’s what the Church does.

___________________________________

For years, my father-in-law led a class for younger married couples in their church. He was such a popular teacher that the younger marrieds grew into older marrieds, and the class continued to expand, all of them coming to soak up the Word from Herb Stuart.

But their leader was fading.

Shortly before Christmas, several leaders from the class came to visit with Herb. His voice was weak as he spoke, and he shared his hopes for what would likely be his final holiday. He told them of his greatest joy through the years – the pleasure he found in blessing us, his children.

Every year, Herb started saving all his quarters on January 1. Throughout the year, he would constantly ask for change in quarters, until he had a heavy bag full of change at Christmas. This was when Barbara took over and put together a grand scavenger hunt for her grown boys and their spouses.

We’d tear through the house finding clues that eventually led us to the bag of coins, which we then counted out and split between us all.

But this past year it just hadn’t worked out. Herb’s focus was on fighting cancer. He couldn’t gather quarters, and he shared with the leaders of his class how he wished he could have seen his kids count out quarters one more time.

Leaving his house, one of the men sent a text to his wife telling her he wanted to help. “Let’s see if we can get enough quarters for the Stuarts to have one more scavenger hunt.”

Within a matter of a few hours, the class had donated over $700, which they took to the bank and exchanged for quarters.

It was the grandest scavenger hunt we’ve ever had, and the portions that Lee and I got to take home were the exact amount we would need to cover one of our plane tickets back to Arkansas 10 days after Christmas for Herb’s funeral.

Community is a beautiful extension of God’s goodness. When the body of Christ comes together, the Spirit led goodness of His Grace is poured out upon us all. <<<<< Tweet this!

Herb’s hope, his dream if you will, for his final Christmas was a seemingly simple one. He just wanted to enjoy the life, love, and laughter of his family. He wanted the comfort of the familiar.

Because of the love of a great community of believers, because of the Church, we made a Christmas memory that will carry us until the day we see Herb again.

There is Grace in community, and glorious beauty in the unification of God’s children. I’ve seen it in action, held it in my hands. The rattle of the quarters was a melody unlike any other.

It was the melody of love.

Walking in Wisdom Prayer

May 17, 2015 By Delonna Gibbs Leave a Comment

Walking in Wisdom

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your promise that you will give us wisdom. Thank you for directing our step and placing wise people into our lives. Thank you Father for those who give wise council to their friends. Thank you for the God Size Dreamers who are pouring into each others lives and speaking truth and love to each other. Thank you Father for those who seek wisdom and walk with the wise like it states in Proverbs 13:20.

Heavenly Father I pray you place it on all of our hearts to surround ourselves with friends who are going to point us back to you Lord. Holy Spirit we ask that you speak through us and pour out your wisdom. Lord I pray that the words we speak will bring you honor and glory.

We ask all of this in Jesus name – AMEN

Mama in Waiting Prayer

May 10, 2015 By Delonna Gibbs 2 Comments

Mama in Waiting

Oh Heavenly Father,

Today is an extremely hard day for the Mama’s in Waiting. We yearn to become a mama. We dream of having a house filled with children’s laughter. We long to have those little arms wrapped around our neck. We want to hear a child call us Mama. Yet today is not the day, so we ask that you will be with all of us who are not mothers. Remind us that we are loved beyond by measure by you. Help us to keep our eyes focused on you and not on our parental status.

We ask that you give strength to the woman who is trying to patiently wait on your timing to become a mama. Whether she is single like me, who is waiting for Mr. Wonderful to enter her world. Or if she is a woman who been battling infertility. Please send her a love letter today that reminds her how much you love her. Remind her of the stories of Hannah, Elizabeth and Sarah that you can change her barren womb to a fertile one.  We are standing on the promise that you will draw closer to us like it says in Psalm 86:1 “Bend down and hear my prayer, O Lord, and answer me, for I am deep in trouble”.  The waiting and yearning makes our heart break just a little more each day that passes by. We are starting to lose hope and wonder if you are hearing our prayers at all. Assure each woman that you have heard her cries and you are moving on her behalf.

We ask that you comfort the women who have had a miscarriage and who are still missing and desiring to know their heaven babies. God we ask that you wrap your loving arms around her and remind her that you bend down to hear her cries. Lord we ask that you be her comforter today. Holy Spirit we ask that you utter the words her heart can’t bear to say. We are claiming your promise in Romans 8:26 “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.”

Lord we ask that you be with every woman who is a Mama in Waiting. We ask all of this in Jesus Name – AMEN.

Firm and Secure Prayer

anchor

Lord we seek you this morning. Some of us are struggling right now Lord, and we cry out for help. But we are reminded in Your Word that You are our hope, an anchor for our soul. So Lord we ask that You renew us again with that hope. We thank You for loving us and for being our firm foundation. Regardless of what we might be facing today Lord may we remember that You are in control and You have us in the palm of Your hand. Today we rest in that. In the Almighty name of Jesus – AMEN.

Stand with Me Prayer

April 26, 2015 By Delonna Gibbs 2 Comments

2 Timothy Prayer

Oh Heavenly Father,

Lord when reading 2 Timothy 4:17 we find ourselves wondering how could this be. Your steadfast love makes us awestruck. Your willingness to do life with us every second of the day is unfathomable Lord. We feel unworthy of your devoted love for us. We wonder how you could choose to stand by us even on the ugly tantrum throwing moments. Especially on those days when we doubt your love, our purpose and our worth. When we seem to act more like the world than the child of a the Most High God.

Lord thank you for your promise in Psalm 103:12-13 “As far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us. As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.”

Thank you Lord for standing with us on the good, the bad and the ugly days. Thank you for standing with us on the days we doubt our dreams and wonder if you picked the right person. Thank you for being our foundation and the rock by which we can stand. Thank you for standing with us. Lord please continue to guide our steps. We ask all of this in the name of Jesus – AMEN

He Has Risen Prayer

April 3, 2015 By Delonna Gibbs 1 Comment

He is Risen

Jesus,
Thank you for loving us so much that you died a painful death just to be in a loving relationship with us.  Thank you for hanging on the cross while others mocked and ridiculed you.  You felt the weight of our sins on you and yet you didn’t give up on us. Lord thank you for believing in us more than we believed in ourselves.

HE HAS RISEN

Thank you Lord for conquering death. Thank you for rising on the third day. Thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Thank you for teaching us how to love unconditionally. Thank you for your unfailing love. Lord today we celebrate that YOU ARE ALIVE!

Thank you for writing the greatest love story ever. We offer all of this as a sacrifice of praise in your precious name, Jesus – AMEN

We Are Loved Prayer

March 29, 2015 By Delonna Gibbs 2 Comments

John 3:16

Heavenly Father,

What a precious you gave all of us by sending your Son to die for us. Heavenly Father as we go into the week of Good Friday and Easter, may we humbly come before your throne and say THANK YOU. Even those words do not sum up our love for you and adoration for the love you bestow upon us.

Abba Father, we thank you for choosing us first. Thank you for your steadfast love that gives us grace. There was a sacrifice to be made and you provided the sacrifice. God we seek to know you and have an intimate relationship with you. We want to hear your voice and know that you are the God we serve.

May this week not be primarily about our God Sized Dreams but more about the God Sized Dream Giver. May we focus on what Jesus did for us when he died on the cross. May we remember Jesus and his extravagant love for us. We ask all of this in your Son’s name, Jesus – AMEN

Thank you for sending your son Jesus to die for our sins so we could be redeemed. Thank you for pursuing us and never giving up on us. Thank you for adopting us into your family. Thank you for calling us YOURS.

Heavenly Father, please help to remember our identity is found in you. Help us to remember that you have equipped for this brave thing called God Sized Dreaming. Help us to remember that you are a good and faithful God who wants the very best for your children.

Thank you for birthing new ideas in each of us. Thank you for giving a new God Sized Dreamer the courage to dream again. Thank you for showing the dreamer who lost sight of her dream along the way that you have kept it safe all this time. Thank you for seeing her heart and her desire to serve you. Thank you for bringing back to memory lost dreams. Thank you for walking this journey with us.  Oh Heavenly Father, we just want to say again – THANK YOU FOR CALLING US BY NAME.

We love you and believe you have our best interest at heart. We ask all of this in Jesus name – AMEN
