I yelled at my kids tonight. I got frustrated and irritated and I snapped at them. Over glow sticks.
As I sat down to prepare this post, I got angry at my kids and lost my temper. I was focused on what I felt was important at the time, and I honestly just wanted them to go to bed.
Instead they wanted glow sticks. So I got angry and I lost it.
I wanted to come before you today in my best outfit, with perfect hair and just the right words…and instead I am here a broken sinner. A woman in need of grace.
How can I possibly be an example here when I don’t have it all together?!
Have you ever felt that way?
Unqualified and ill-equipped?
Maybe, if you are anything like me, you feel like God can’t use you if you aren’t “perfect.”
Recently I was reminded that the beautiful thing about our God is that He doesn’t call the perfect, He perfects the called. (<==== Click to Tweet)
Don’t you love that? Such grace in that statement!
For a moment, I want to give you a glimpse into my life. As time goes on, I hope to share more with you but for now just a few of the “basics.” I am a wife of 17+ years and a mother of four (17, 10, 4, and 3). My husband and I work together full time at his business, which we opened just a little over two years ago. This in itself is a miracle and a representation of God’s redemptive power in our lives. We are living a life full of God’s little miracles.
And even in spite of that, of all the grace and daily blessing, I am quick to snap into the negative. Life is busy and overwhelming at times. I lose my focus on what’s important and my temper flares.
It flares oh so quickly and tonight over glow sticks! Sigh…
So I sit tonight and humbly ask God how could He possibly use someone like me?
And you know the answer I hear??
“Tell them your story, Our story. Be transparent and don’t pretend to be someone you are not. Yes my child you are broken…but in Me and through Me, you have purpose. Show them that they don’t have to be perfect to follow My dream for their lives. Show them that in spite of their past, their failures and struggles, I will use each and every one of those things for My glory. Haven’t I done that very thing for you??”
Friends, I don’t know what brings you here today. What roadblocks you may be facing. What lies you may be believing.
Can we agree to take all of those things, the hurts, the fear and frustrations, the belief that we will never be good enough, and lay them at the feet of the Almighty?
Let’s claim this truth. The God of the universe has called you. Each one of you, He has called by name. For a specific purpose…a dream He has planted in your heart that He has equipped you for. (<==== Click to Tweet)
Stop focusing on all the reasons that you can’t and start focusing on the One who can.
Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
This is an exciting place to land, this space for dream-chasing, full of hope and promise. I can’t guarantee that following these dreams is going to be easy…but I can tell you that the journey will be worth it. If we have the courage to follow His plan, then God will get the glory!
What “roadblock” do you feel is in your way? Please leave a comment and share them with me so that I can be praying for you and your journey!
