   Amen and amen. It IS a long trip. As Goff says there are mid-course corrections…sometimes several! But every once in a while we are given the privilege of seeing the fruit. The tour guide points and says, if you’ll look out the window to your left, you’ll see how a life was touched…how “fill your name in the blank”‘s faithfulness was honored. My overall God-sized dream is to see my community come to know Christ through practical acts of service. Under that umbrella are many supporting rods. One of them came to life yesterday. I watched as 14 people gathered to learn about and participate in the plans for the new garden at our church where we will grow fresh produce to give to the local food bank. My prayer is that it will not only nourish the bodies of our community, but the souls of our congregants as they fellowship, united in common purpose. That we will literally “see the fruit of our labor” and taste and see that the Lord is good. Thank you God-sized dreamers for this site, for your encouragement, vulnerability and transparency. Seeing the pictures posted on FB this weekend I felt like I was looking at pictures of friends I’ve come to know a little better through the pages of this site 🙂

   Being a God-Size Dreamer means embarking on a long journey, yes, but it’s a journey filled with surprises, insights and joyous although sometimes hard lessons that you would have never dreamt of experiencing otherwise. Personally I have many dreams, as I think we all do. The biggest one at this point is actually two-fold: to write a book that incorporates my passion for my faith with my passion for educating others about wildlife and the newest part of my dream to educate faith communities about biblically based environmental stewardship (this last part will require graduate school to come to fruition). So often churches don’t participate in environmental stewardship because of the political labels associated with doing so. I know that the word “hate” is a strong term but I truly hate that as a faith by and large, Christians are not taking seriously the biblical command given to them to being stewards of the environment. Instead, we are allowing it to become a solely political issue. I would love to see that change and rather than sitting back and waiting for someone else to do it, I want to get my hands dirty and be an *active* part of the change. I’m not sure where the starting blocks are with this dream but no matter what, I will need to be lifted up in prayer! I would not call myself meek but I am reserved and sensitive to harsh words so there are times when I am going to want to give up. I know in my own denomination, many of my fellow believers are not fond of the environmental movement and thus will not take kindly to any such suggestions. Thank you and thank you for the post! I think this is the first time I’ve been able to articulate the second part of my God-Size Dream this well!
